Paul's Admonition
In this world of quick news and sensationalism, we are flooded with that which is shocking and degrading. The Apostle Paul in the New Testament taught that "whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things" (Philippians 4:8). My question to you is "Are we?" What was the last virtuous thing you looked at, heard, said, or wrote?
Besides cat pictures, what scrolls across you technology dashboard that uplifts, enlightens, encourages, and instills light and life in your life? Please share it with me in the comments. Something that brings joy to my life is the art of Hannah Bullen-Ryner. She creates stunning portraits of animals from found objects like berries, leaves, flowers and feathers. These pint-size portraits are then photographed and uploaded to her art page. This artwork shows her respect for the beauties of nature that God has bestowed upon us to "both to please the eye and to gladden the heart" (Doctrine and Covenants 59:18).
What gladdens you heart?
